FAQs

Got a question about a Thermomix? I'm here to help.

  • Where do I buy a Thermomix in the UK?

Through a Thermomix Advisor such as myself.  Please complete this CONTACT FORM if you  would like to buy a Thermomix in the UK and myself or one of my team will respond to  you quickly.

  • How much does a Thermomix TM6 cost?

The price is £1,279.  This is never discounted but there are sometimes offers to include additional items.  Please complete the Contact Form if you would like to purchase and I  will be in touch with you shortly.  I can provide information about our finance plan too, to  spread the cost of your Thermomix over 1, 2, 3 or 4 years.

  • Do you pay for the Cookidoo recipes?

When you purchase your TM6, you will receive a 3 month Cookidoo subscription for FREE.  After this point, the subscription is £50 per year.  Just enter your card details when you set up your Thermomix and the membership will roll over.

  • Is a Thermomix worth the money?

Not many appliances pay for themselves!  Considering the functionality of the Thermomix,  almost all owners would agree that a Thermomix absolutely is worth the money and more! Not only are you spending less money on ingredients, the Thermomix also give you the gift of time, so you have more time to enjoy the things you want to do (and if that’s cooking  – more time to cook more!)  If you were to buy 25 separate kitchen appliances, it would  amount to thousands of pounds and you would need lots of cupboard space to store  everything.

  • What is so good about a Thermomix?

There’s many answers when asking what is so good about a Thermomix. German-engineering is proven to be very reliable and popular and over 50 years of research and development has  gone into the Thermomix model you see today – the TM6.  The precision and detail puts the Thermomix right at the high-end of kitchen devices, plus you get ongoing support from your  advisor (me).

Customers often find they hugely reduce their number of takeaways and  ready meals and want to eat out less often as the food at home is so good.  The Thermomix  is very intuitive and simple to use, with the Cookidoo recipe platform detailing 90,000  recipes and this grows every week.

The versatility of the Thermomix given its relatively small  footprint is a huge plus point and most customers will be able to streamline their kitchen as  they don’t need most of their other appliances.  Control of ingredients, flavours and  textures is key to ensuring that everyone in the household is catered for.

  • Will I use my Thermomix enough?

Cooking with a Thermomix is addictive.  The Thermomix stays on your workbench, as you  may want to use it several times every day.  My Thermomix takes me from breakfast  smoothies, perfect porridge and eggs through to salads and soups for lunch and then the  main event for dinner.

We eat homemade bread in our house and I bake frequently for my  children using healthier, natural ingredients.  With the support of your advisor, you will  learn how to make your Thermomix work for you.  Feeling inspired to try new things is all  part of being a Thermomix owner and your confidence will grow as you start to receive  compliments from people you cook for!

  • I can cook – do I need a Thermomix?

I often get asked this question.  Owning a Thermomix does not remove any cooking ability  you may already have away – in fact, it only adds value as you can build on your repertoire.   A Thermomix can turn weekend-only cooks into people who cook fresh food daily due to  time-saving benefits.  Having a risotto on a Monday night is a 20 minute hands-free process versus a 1 hour chained-to-the-stove procedure!

Thermomix features in many Michelin starred restaurants around the world, to help chefs achieve incredible results. Many liken it  to having a sous chef at home.

  • Can I put my own recipes into my Thermomix?

It is now possible to add your own recipes to your Cookidoo. Create Your Own recipes was  an innovation resulting from customer feedback requesting this feature.  It is also possible  to use a Thermomix in manual mode, rather than following the guided recipes and imported  recipes can be edited to your requirements and saved for future use.

  • Will it be big enough to feed my family of 6?

Yes.  Most of the guided recipes are written with 4-6 people in mind. We now have the  incredible updated feature of Recipe Scaling, which means you can enter your desired  portion size and the ingredients will be scaled up or down accordingly.  The mixing bowl has  a capacity of 2.2L so it largely depends on what you are cooking, but that would make a huge  amount of bolognese sauce!

The cylindrical shape of the mixing bowl is deceptively  spacious.  Because using a Thermomix means you can prepare some dishes in seconds, it is  likely you will want to whip up some side dishes, breads or salads to serve alongside your  main dish, meaning that more mouths will be generously fed.  We have regularly cooked for  around 30 people at our cooking classes just by making 6 or 7 dishes.

  • Why do I need a demo?

I am passionate about ensuring you make the most out of your Thermomix.  Whilst the  demo is not mandatory, it is highly recommended.  I am not here to teach you how to cook,  I am here to provide expertise on every mode and feature whilst providing a big dose of  inspiration and enthusiasm!

I will tailor your support depending on how much hand-holding you would like along the way after you have purchased and I can help you make the  decision pre-purchase.

  • Do I need to pay for the demo?

No, it’s completely free.  We are not paid for our demonstrations, but it is part of our five  star service to you.  Inviting guests along can increase the fun factor and there can be  benefits to hosting.

  • I’m not very good with technology – is a Thermomix easy to use?

Yes!  I am firmly in the camp of not-very-good-with-tech, but it is very simple to use.  All you  do once you have connected to your Wifi, is choose some recipes and start cooking straight  away.  The guided cooking means you are following steps on the screen and adding  ingredients as directed.  I can recommend some really simple and winning recipes to start  off with in your first couple of weeks.

  • Do I need to always have Wifi to use my Thermomix?

No.  We have cooked in fields in the middle of Yorkshire dales and on campsites up and  down the country!  Some people (me included) have even been known to take their Thermomix on holiday with them.

Simply store the recipes you would like to cook in your  “recently cooked” file and you’re good to go.

Alternatively, you can hotspot from your  mobile phone, or cook in manual mode.

  • Can I cook multiple things at once in the Thermomix?

Yes, multi-layer cooking is possible and encouraged.  You may be cooking some soup in your  bowl and steaming a whole chicken or some meatballs simultaneously in the Varoma  compartment on top.  This can result in an even more delicious result due to the natural stock produced during the cooking process.  Or maybe rice in your internal basket and a  layer of steamed veg and omelette above that.

  • Is a Thermomix energy efficient?

Indeed it is!  It can be far more economical to run than using gas or turning your oven on, making it ideal for smaller households that may not want to heat a large household oven just for themselves.  Cooking times are generally much shorter than conventional methods.  Many Aga users find their Thermomix perfect in the summer when they turn their Agas off.

  • What can Thermomix cook?

Soups, stews, cakes, risottos, sauces, pasta, rice, curries, jams, chutney, steamed and slow  cooked food, sous vide dishes, yoghurt, caramel, honeycomb, desserts, custards and curry pastes are good starting points!  Thermomix can also make icing of all kinds, meringues,  dips, spreads, butter, baby food, dog treats, snacks, hot drinks, mocktails, cocktails,  smoothies, nut butter, plant-based milk, cheese, mayonnaise, crackers, dressings, pancakes, vegetable rice, stock paste.  It can also be used as a prep machine for grating cheese,  making breadcrumbs, chopping onions and salads in seconds or grinding nuts, ice or milling  whole spices, coffee and flour. Thermomix will produce many varieties of pastry, bread  dough, pasta dough, ice-creams and sorbets.

  • What CAN’T a Thermomix do?

It can’t deep-fry, bake or roast.  It is not an air-fryer or a pressure cooker and many customers are currently loving the combination of Thermomix and an air-fryer.

  • How would a Thermomix save me money?

Even if you cook from scratch already, there is always room for improvement! Making your own sauces, condiments, spice blends, curry pastes, plant milks, nut butters, dips & breads can add up to a huge saving every month.  When you add store cupboard staples such as  granola, golden syrup, icing sugar and flavoured sugars, gluten-free flours & preserves, your Thermomix will likely pay for itself within the year.

Additional savings include energy use and a reduction in unused ingredients at the end of the week.  We don’t like to waste  anything!

  • Do chefs use Thermomix?

Thermomix is widely used amongst chefs, chocolatiers, bakers, cake-makers, recipe  development teams, cookery schools, food tech departments in schools and colleges, catering companies, cheese factories, mobile food vans, on cooking shows and even for making beauty products.  To name but a few commercial uses!

Less waste, maximisation of profit margins, standardisation of results and reduced labour all make perfect business  sense.

  • What is the warranty?

You will receive a 2 year warranty as standard for domestic use or FREE extended warranty when you purchase your Thermomix in full!  That's a saving of £149 for 5 years peace of mind.  Commercial customers have a 1 year warranty.

  • Can I buy replacement parts?

Yes, all the accessories, attachments and component parts of the bowl can be purchased  separately from Vorwerk.co.uk website, if needed.

  • What are the Pros and Cons of a Thermomix?

I think we have all the benefits of a Thermomix covered. The only cons that spring to mind is  that you will be so used to eating fantastic food, you will become a tough customer when  you dine out!

  • How do I become a Thermomix Advisor?

You don’t have to be a Thermomix expert to join the team.  Full training is provided with Thermomix UK and there are no out-of-pocket expenses.  Many delighted customers go on to become advisors because they can’t stop talking about their Thermomix and want everyone to know about it and actually already will have a lot of experience with using their Thermomix.

Some advisors prefer to buy their Thermomix first, whilst others may prefer to earn one in 90 days with 4 sales.  Please complete the contact details form HERE if you would like to know more.  You will be invited to an Opportunity Meeting and placed with a local team leader, depending on your postcode.

"I was thoroughly impressed by how fast my Thermomix arrived once I had completed my order with Sam and how diligently and flexibly she arranged a virtual demo session with me to gently ease me into using it. Sam’s Intagram posts are full of inspiration and ideas which I’ve taken on and her support answering ad hoc questions with great suggestions really has helped me maximise the use of my Thermomix. I am grateful for her continued support and service that she provides way beyond that initial sale. Thank you Sam!
